What’s a dudesy? A dudesy is a guy in the ’90s that blends the “surfer dude” attitude with a hint of possible consumption of marijuana (though not explicitly stated). Look at any long-haired buffoon on television in the ’90s, and they are probably all dudesies. Here are three of the most famous dudesies, and you can see why they became popular (well, except for the first one).
Pauly Shore

The Look: Really short shorts or tight jeans; long, crimped-looking hair; dumbfounded look on his face; girly bandana
Known for this dudesy quote: “What’s up, buuuuuuuuddy?”
Notes: Possibly the celebrity Wikipedia entry with the least amount of useful information; shot to fame with Encino Man in 1992; costars Brendan Fraser and Sean Astin went on to star in no-name movies like The Mummy and Lord of the Rings; Shore recently made Pauly Shore Is Dead which you probably haven’t seen I guess one guy has seen (see comments below).
Michaelangelo

The Look: Um, orange; giant turtle just like his brothers; knee pads and elbow pads say “Safety first!”
Known for these dudesy quotes: “Cowabunga!”; “Tubular!”; “Gnarly!”; putting “totally” in front of stuff; generally anything said very excitedly
Notes: A great skateboarder (dudesy hallmark); likes watching TV and eating pizza; reads a fair amount of comic books; he and Raphael said the word “damn” in the first movie; is referred to as “Party Dude” in cartoon theme song, which, if you’re going to have a theme song, is the way to go
Cody Lambert

The Look: Greasy, yet neat, hair; flannel shirts; ripped jeans; impeccable smile
Known for these dudesy quotes: “Duuuude!”; “Dudesy” (the namesake of this article); “ch-yeah”
Notes: Most useless character on Step By Step, but became the show’s Urkel; show tanked without him and was replaced by Bronson Pinchot, which is never good; lived in a van in the driveway; was in idiot but showed remarkable intelligence on occasion
