Let’s jump back to 1992 and celebrate the careers of Boyz II Men for a second. One of their biggest hits swamped the charts during this year: “End of the Road”. Sensitive dudes and chicks swooned over the tones of this heartbreaking tale of a guy who doesn’t want his woman to leave. It sat on top of the charts for 13 weeks - a new record, beating out freaking ELVIS, who only had 11 consecutive weeks.
Then Whitney Houston (remember when she was good?) came out swinging, topping them with the mind-numbing “I Will Always Love You” for 14 weeks. Our Boyz would respond with “I’ll Make Love To You”, which would tie Houston’s record. Good grief.
Make no mistake about it: these guys were red-hot in the ’90s. In fact, these are the guys that replaced New Kids on the Block for my aforementioned cousins. Again, they’ll probably comment on this.
So, enjoy one of the biggest hits of the early ’90s - “End of the Road”!
